Hi All
April and May brought us steadily nicer weather and June is upon us – I hated those days when
I had to wear a jacket only because it was cloudy out and I thought 50° was cold. I’m
glad my heat is off and the furnace has been shut down. I don't hesitate to turn on the
AC when I’m too hot. You would think my wife worked for the Electric Company
(oh yeah, she does). I’m also ready for the pool but too cheap to pay to heat
it- It's at 75 degrees now but 80degrees is my best offer to go in. My decisions
are few now and I'm making those that fit our life style the best (and cost the
least)
You folks made those “little” decisions
this past month: Who to Nominate and Who to vote for as your Officers. You made
the best decision and now will reap the rewards of your good intuition and
outright good decision making based on the candidates qualifications and not a
popularity contest. You have thought it out and made the best decisions and know
the people that you chose will serve in your best interest (i.e.- the best interest of the Post)
We at the S.A.L. had the same opportunity and ahave elected
our Officers. These will be put in place on June 1st at the Legion Installation
Ceremony. Again, I’m confident that we now have the best
and brightest to lead our squadron to a successful year that will be most able
to support the Legion, Auxiliary and S.A.L. Programs. I’m proud to say that
our recent support to Boys and girls state with a donation of $175.00 to each
and $200.00 to the Child Welfare Foundation, have indeed sponsored two more of our youth
to successful transition into adulthood and our donations to the Child Welfare
Foundation have help those less fortunate than us.
Thanks to all of you who have supported our Steak fry and other functions (Super
bowl party etc.) and help us turn your dollars into worthwhile donations to
those most in need.
Ok, You thought I was done. No such luck. I’m going to update you on our
American Legion Morgan McDermott Post #7/Auxiliary Unit #7/ S.A.L. Squadron #7
Web Site.
We have changed the look a bit so if you visited previously you may now find
some things easier to find (we have had many good suggestions already from our
members as to what they want to see and what “LINKS” might help them the
most with Membership (need a DD-214? change of address, an application form? Or
a post locator and a MapQwest button that shows how to get to our Post. It’s
all there and more. Do you just want to see the Sunshiner Calendar of coming
months activities or maybe read the latest Sunshiner News Letter (or go back to
a past edition). We have tried to meet many of your needs and will, through your
suggestions continue to do just that. By the way on the front Web Page the is a
Button “Write Your Thoughts” – just click and you are at a page that asks
you to write to us with your Ideas about anything that concerns you or even
where you can give constructive criticism. Of coarse we can’t post anything
you don’t wish to sign. That address again is
Last but not Least-The S.A.L. will take a break from it's monthly Activities (Steak fry) at the post for June 2008 & July 2008, with no Steak fry. But we would like you to look forward to July 4th for our Annual S.A.L. sponsored gala event with food fun and fireworks. Please stop by Post # 7 and prre-purchase tickets to our party and save a dollar off the meal over what you will pay at the door without the "ADVANCED" dinner ticket.
Thanks again
Joe Mille,
Commander Squadron#7
